How do we think, write, and discuss like a psychological scientist?
 
In this talk, we will discuss how to think, read, write, and communicate like a psychological scientist. Once we understand the structure of a journal article, we will find it useful to approach reading and writing such articles armed with what we call the QALMRI method. This method provides a means for critically evaluating a study in the literature, as well as for organizing our own study, and it will help us see the connection between theory and data. That is, it will help us to be clear on what question is being asked, how to answer it, and whether the results really do support the preferred answer. Therefore, in the first part of the talk, I will introduce the QALMRI method in detail and, in the second part of the talk, we will discuss how to apply this method to build our knowledge/skills as psychological scientists.
